newborn & maternity
You either have a brand new baby, or you’re about to, so the last thing you need is hassle. I want to make it easy for you to have beautiful photos, and for you to enjoy the experience of having them made. So I’m happy to help you through the entire process, from deciding what collection is right for you, to booking, to planning your session, to hanging images you love in your home.
Babies don’t keep. Let me help you preserve the memories of your pregnancy and your little one’s fleeting newborn days to enjoy long after they’ve grown into spirited toddlers. You won’t regret it.
some things to consider…
There are a few things that I do differently with newborn sessions than with usual portrait sessions. I never like to rush clients, because I feel the best portraits are made with people who are happy and relaxed. But babies are brand new to this whole world, and it may take them a little extra time to feel happy and relaxed.
I only ever book one newborn session in a day. This way, we have all the time we need to get your little one fed, rocked, snuggled, burped, or changed so that everyone has a great experience.
I do newborn sessions right in your home. You won’t have to pack up all of the gear, get your tiny new baby into their carseat, and hope that you’ve nailed the timing on traveling with them. Instead, you can relax with them in a space where they’re comfortable, with all of their things handy.
I cannot stress how much I do not expect you to clean your home for newborn sessions. Snuggle your newborn, and do not touch those dishes on my account. I mean it.
Newborn sessions are best scheduled during their first two weeks. You’ll want to book your session before baby arrives, so that I can keep a few dates free on my schedule.
I do not keep a ton of props on hand, and tend to work with simple swaddles, baskets, and blankets. I’m happy to work with whatever props, blankets, or outfits you’d like to incorporate, and also love to capture newborn portraits in a more documentary way.
Maternity sessions are generally best around the 7 or 8 month mark. You want to show your baby bump, but you don’t want to be so pregnant that you barely want to move.
Maternity sessions and other milestone portraits (like 6 month photos, or birthday sessions) can either be done in-home or outdoors. In-home portraits are a great option if this is not your first kid, or if you’d like to take a more “day in the life” documentary approach to your portraits.
You’re likely already tired of hearing people tell you that it goes so fast, but it really does. You blink, and their due date is in a week. You blink again, and somehow they’ve been home a month already. Capturing all those little details – from their little wrinkly toes to their chubby rolls – is priceless. Let me help you preserve these memories to enjoy for years to come. You won’t regret it.

how do i book?
To get the process started, you can fill out the contact form, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. To be officially booked, I’ll need a signed contract and your deposit. If you want to make sure that I’m available first, you can see my calendar here.
do i have to book a collection?
You don’t! Choosing print and digital options can be overwhelming for some folks, and they find collections to be helpful. But if you know exactly what you want, you can book your session a la carte. Full a la carte pricing is available in the newborn & maternity e-zine on the pricing & FAQ page.
